The legendary Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds Neil Diamond Tribute” Vegas residency show is still thrilling audiences in the “Alexis Park Modern Showrooms” at Alexis Park Resort Hotel.
Music icon Neil Diamond is one of the greatest and most admired singer/songwriters in contemporary pop-rock music history.
Besides being one of the top-selling and record-breaking touring artists ever, he’s also composed the music that defined generations — including some of the most famous songs on the planet.
In the beginning of 2018, shortly before his 77th year, Neil Diamond retired from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
However, Diamond’s concert legacy continues to be kept alive for audiences throughout the world through longtime Las Vegas performer Rob Garrett, known as America’s premier Neil Diamond tribute performer.
Ask Google “who is America’s number one Neil Diamond tribute artist,” and you’ll get the same answer.
Like his legendary counterpart, Rob Garrett was a Brooklyn, New York native.
In May 1974, his parents moved the family from New York City to Las Vegas, where, at age 16, he witnessed his first live Neil Diamond show when Diamond made his attendance-breaking Las Vegas debut at the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” in July 1976.
Garrett went on to see him another 16 times across the country—right up until Diamond’s last American show at the LA Forum on August 12, 2017.
In 1980, Garrett formed his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a successful 15-year run in Las Vegas and across the nation before transitioning from lead singer of a cover band to a full-time tribute performer dedicated to one of his childhood heroes.
In 1995, Garrett was hand-picked by Paul Revere, leader of “The Raiders” to portray Neil Diamond in the Honolulu production of “Legends in Concert”.
What was meant to be a limited run turned into a long-term hit show.
By August 1998, Garrett was back in Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another two years before deciding to go independent.
He began a steady touring schedule, building a strong worldwide fan community along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds.”
He continues to sell out theaters nationwide, often in venues reserved for national acts.
Garrett has also earned several honors, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”
“Since he (Diamond) announced his retirement, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.
On May 19, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and birthday celebration Las Vegas Neil Diamond tribute 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.
Now in 2025, Garrett celebrates 45 years on stage in Las Vegas, with the last 30 years devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.
It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has played in more Vegas rooms than any peer.
Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the only active Neil Diamond tribute production in America.
Alexis Park Resort Hotel is located at 375 E. Harmon Ave., about a quarter mile from Paradise Road.
